The precision optics division of a major Japanese medical device manufacturer launched an ultra-fine coin inspection endoscope for cultural property preservation labs, ancient coin appraisal institutions, and museums in May 2026. The optical system with a minimum resolution of 2μm can non-destructively examine casting marks, stamping patterns, and corrosion layers. Initial orders exceeded 200 units, drawing industry attention for improving forgery and altered coin detection accuracy by more than tenfold compared to conventional methods.
