A major domestic plastics alternative maker has developed and announced 'EcoCoin Resin,' a bio-resin material exclusively for old coin and currency collector storage cases. Reinterpreting the Edo-era cultural tradition of storing coins in plant-based materials such as lacquer, washi, and bamboo as a modern material, it combines zero acid gas emission, antistatic properties, and biodegradability. Certified as the first domestic storage material to meet industry association decarbonization standards, nationwide rollout to 300 specialist collector shops is planned for autumn 2026.
